Grey

After the rainbows of yesterday, today is well and truly grey. It’s the sort of day when sea and sky and sand almost merge so it’s hard to tell where one element ends and another starts. Even the land is shrouded in a heavy mist.

The beach is almost deserted as we walk along, surprising ourselves by even being here. We had expected heavy rain by now, instead of the persistent but gentle drizzle which soaks us  almost imperceptibly.

In the distance, there are a few solitary walkers, some with dogs, some couples, but the vast expanse of bay seems desolate - though still beautiful in its way. Rippled wet sand reflects a dull grey sky, which is, in turn, reflected in the calm grey sea. Grey.
