Redundant Hay Bale

This morningI went for a walk with my son, Adam. As he lives in the city of Edinburgh and we live in East Lothian we chose under the restrictions of covid to meet somewhere near the boundary of these regions around the Musselburgh Lagoons. It is the first time I have ever explored this area which currently is being developed as a wildlife park. Although one local businessman has aspirations to build a Formula 1 circuit there but is unlikely to succeed against considerable local opposition. The lagoons are built on ash spoil heaps from the now defunct Cockenzie coal fired Power Station but there are not many lagoons as yet. The wildlife this morning was limited mainly to mallard, gulls and swans. However, mysteriously hidden on the edges of a woodland copse are some ancient hay bales which have been there so long they are now covered in moss.
