Row Head, Sandwick

I went along to Skaill today. I walked along the edge of the Loch of Skaill and saw goldeneye, long-tailed ducks, tufted ducks, pochard and 22 whooper swans. In a field nearby was a flock of about 90 barnacle geese, which I think may be the first barnies I've seen in Skaill, must check my records. Onto the cliffs south of the bay and I saw that auks were back on the cliffs with between 600 and 700 guillemots there. The main shot shows the exposure of their ledges, the second shows some guillemots from a distance.
