Barking Up The Wrong Tree

Warmer weather is beginning to have an effect on the snow level and slowly things are being revealed.

I was attracted to this scene by the line of what could be a root or the end of the bark of this fallen tree. I also liked the shape of the snow around the base of the image and the tiny patch of dried grass.

The tree is still alive, even though the trunk is lying on the ground, half out in the water (currently still frozen and covered in snow) and there are more things growing on it in addition to its own sprouts.
