Preparations

The Yellow-rumped warblers or 'ButterButts' as they are affectionally called, are preparing for their northward migration. They will be making the long and arduous journey to their breeding/nesting grounds around the Great Lakes and up into Canada. They've been devouring the BarkButter in our  five feeders as quickly as I can refill them. This morning we put out a cake of suet. Our local birds turn their beaks up at the suet, preferring the much more 'expensive' BarkButter. However the ButterButts wasted no time and literally 'dove into' the suet. They're loving it! The high fat content of the suet is a perfect food for their upcoming trip! And our local birds are looking forward to some peace and quiet around their feeders!
Be Well!
