95 years young.

As Granda said to me on the phone this morning, “I wish birthdays didn’t last just one day, but that they lasted all month!”

His 95th birthday was yesterday, and he had a wonderful day celebrating from the sounds of things. Including a drive round the houses he was born in and grew up in, filled with wonderful stories from his long and full life! Plus some afternoon tea treats - which, having the sweet tooth he does, he absolutely loved!

Decided we would try to extend the celebrations by a day at least - and what a special afternoon it was. Listening to Granda talk about his favourite subject in the whole world: Jesus. He seems to love Him more every day. He spends all his free time reading, highlighting, studying, memorising the Bible...a book with so much wisdom, power, and hope. He has pages and pages of notes written out, from Genesis to Revelation. What a privilege, to have this example of faith and passion.

After a few hours of listening, I think Granny was worried I might be fed up hearing about this topic! But I can’t imagine ever tiring of learning about our profoundly beautiful, unfathomable yet willingly close, unshakeable yet so tender, God. Especially not from this man! No, I could have stayed for hours longer.
