Along the ridge from High Stile to High Crag

At last, a true Lake District view. Lowland walks are fine, with great views and wonderful scenery, but when you get up high another dimension opens up. This walk starts from Buttermere, continues along the lake until it forks steeply upward towards the Scarth Gap where a right turn takes you up onto the ridge via Seat, High Crag, High Stile and Red Pike before a steep descent from Red Pike takes in Bleaberry Tarn on the way back to Buttermere.

This is a great ridge walk, being much easier than it might appear from the lakeside as these are forbidding mountains when viewed from a low level with their steep, black craggy cliff faces rearing up from the lake.

Again, the weather was absolutely superb, blue skies and great visibility. Could see the Isle of Man to the west, Scotland to the north and most of the Lake District ranges nearer by. In the background of this shot are Green Gable and Great Gable and to the left Fletwith Pike. The Scafell range, the Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Blencathra were all visible to name just a few.

Our last day of a week to treasure, who would have thought we would have had a week of such excellent weather in February? I'm sure they will pay for it come the "summer"
