Diary of an Edinburgher

Big blip birthday!

365 blips! When did that happen? It snuck up on me for sure - doesn't seem like a year ago.

When I realised the blipday was imminent, I planned to get up early today and get a sunrise, as it was a special day, but this morning I couldn't be stuffed.

Then it was going to be an SP in my pink swimming hat and goggles, levitating over the sofa. Perhaps with my purple wellies on. This was vetoed by JR as being just TOO SILLY.

And so there was nothing for it, but to nip to the pond and see if my feathered friends would provide a birthday blip. They weren't doing anything spectacular - at least not when I was looking (as per usual) - so this one is IT. I've had a duck looking at a swan, so this is a swan looking at a duck.

But luckily the lichen had grown in a 365 shape!! And I didn't notice this until I uploaded it to the computer! Amazing.

I've been sorting out lots of photos to send to the Dancing Boys from yesterday, including one of Mr Red Trews doing a hand stand on his fingertips!! He'd been 'jumping' and I must have caught him at the right time. Also another one of Lewis flying over the top of them. They were incredible lads. I was going to say, it keeps them off the streets. But it doesn't. I'll put them in my folio.

Well, my year of blipping has been great fun. I honestly think I wouldn't have done half the things I've done but for the necessity of getting out and about to get a daily blip. I can so easily revert to total laziness and do nothing for days on end, but this hasn't happened. I KNOW that I can now swim because of reporting my progress on blip. I just couldn't give up. I can also name several a few birds now. It's also a great as an aide memoire - I wish I'd been doing this years ago. I now know where I went on holiday last Easter.

Thanks to all those who pop in - many of you on a daily basis, leaving comments and kind words, dishing out stars and hearts. It's very encouraging.

There are so many inspirational folk on blip.

There are brilliant photographers who go to amazing lengths to get a good blip.

There are busy working blippers who relate their day and the photo shows a wee part of that day.

There are blippers who take time to impart their knowledge and do interesting write ups about their shot.

There are blippers who explain the techie bits.

And some blippers are real comic geniuses.

It's a terrific place.

Roll on the next 365!
