EUPHORBIA milii: CROWN OF THORNS EUPHORBIA

This thorny plant with the hot pink flowers is a rare succulent with true leaves.   You might miss the leaves because the thorns are so prominent,& the flowers are so striking.  In fact, it gets its common name from the legend, that says the thorny crown Jesus wore at his crucifixion was made from this plant. It is native to Madagascar, an island off the coast of East Africa, so this might be a stretch.

Like the thorny Bougainvillea, it loves the heat, is drought tolerant & is
low maintenance.  It can be grown as a small shrub outdoors (SEE EXTRA)
as long as it is in a sunny spot & is protected from frost.  It can be propagated from tip cuttings, but thick garden gloves are recommended.

This is a beautiful plant, I enjoy seeing in my neighbor's yard.
It enough for me to enjoy it, at a distance, away from those thorns,
