Nature decides

The rains on Friday had already forced the postponement of Santana's Custard Apple Festival and high winds and a huge storm are again battering the island of Madeira.

Nobody would think of a levada walk - or even a Sunday stroll. It makes best sense to stay in the hotel. (No hardship of course and its a perfect vantage point for photography even though we can only hint at the drama).

At the airport all flights have been cancelled until 5 pm ( a rolling time as it will certainly be a lot later than that).

We are unbelievably well looked after here. The notorious approach to the airport requires a special certificate from all pilots and nobody takes any chances.

So we can settle to watch the sport and/or tuck into a luscious Sunday roast :-)
