Roadside herb garden

I was walking home a couple of days ago when I noticed this shrub, which, potless, had been thrown up the bank on to a pile of other rubbish. On inspection it proved to be rosemary.

As we walked by today after a brief walk up to McCaig's Tower and around the streets I nipped up and brought it down, feeling rather conspicuous carrying it home! I thought that the person who dumped it might be hiding behind the curtains and watching me! It looked in reasonable condition so when I got home I potted it and put it in a sheltered spot.

Why would somebody do this? We have a good local gardening Facebook page where any plant offered is usually snapped up immediately. If this one survives I shall probably find somewhere to plant it out and if not, find a new home for it.

Quote of the Day:

Alice Sebold – “I like gardening — it’s a place where I find myself when I need to lose myself.”
