Covid antibody test

Today's a quiet day for catching up on various home-based tasks, including this Covid19 antibody test: a pinprick of blood, dropped into a little container with some diluting liquid.

For some years I've been a participant in the UK Biobank study, which collects health data on around half a million people.
Apart from gathering baseline data, they run, or collaborate in, a range of studies on discrete themes and conditions.  That now includes Covid19.

This bit of Biobank work is designed to see how many participants show evidence of antibodies to the virus, including people who have been vaccinated and people who haven't.  Of course I was hoping to see positive evidence, having been vaccinated a month ago. And sure enough, a faint line did show up in the right place to indicate the presence of antibodies.

Phew... it isn't a passport to invulnerability and it won't change anything in our routine. But that little line felt encouraging all the same.

There's information about the Biobank study here: https://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/
