Union Canal

Bit of a grey-day here in Edinburgh - and was very tied to the computer for a swathe of meetings this morning/early afternoon, but thankfully I did manage to get out around late lunchtime and went for a quick stroll along my favourite canal ... was trying to illustrate (in this snap) the slow sweep of the route, as it passes by Polwarth Parish Church.

If interested, you can read a bit more about the history of the canal via this link - the whole construction is a 'contour canal', and for the totality of its 50km length, it follows the natural contours of the land and thus has no locks.

The canal will actually be 200-years old in 2022 :-)
