South African Praying Mantis

We do have a New Zealand native species but this introduced kind have been here since 1978 and it is thought they are displacing the native ones.  This morning there were two on the deck.  One got itself back into the garden but this one stayed on my shoe so I put it next to the edge and hopefully it found it's way in the foliage.  I liked the abdomen with what I think is eggs for the next generation.
