Somersby

Dalziel Drive, Pollokshields, Glasgow

I was invited to the launch of the Pollokshields Heritage Trails this afternoon. We had a wander around area where the detached villas are situated, with two very informed guides. So much history in each individual property, lots of architectural details to go back and Blip at some point in the future.

I have chosen "Somersby", as the owner had agreed the group could walk up the driveway, and enjoy a close up view. Built in 1902, designed by architect H.E. Clifford, for the oil and produce broker W.T. Geddes. This Arts and Crafts House is B listed.

The tour ended back at Pollokshields Burgh Hall where we enjoyed a quality Afternoon Tea ... yes, with cups and saucers, and excellent scones.

Two Trail guides have been published :
Trail One - The Villas of Pollokshields
Trail Two - The Tenements of Pollokshields.
with a third leaflet on The Crafting of the Suburb

Backblipped yesterday's from Dumbarton Castle.
