What Job Would You Choose?

Well, a tree surgeon cutting down a tree and some branches during a yellow Met Office wind alert wouldn't be top of my list of jobs! I'd made a complaint to the Council in the Autumn about the trees at the edge of the field to the side of my property as branches were overhanging the boundary, some trees were lopsided and leaning towards my property and one had a split trunk and I was concerned about it falling on my property. A council inspector visited and did a report and remedial work was commissioned including removing the tree with the split trunk which looked like there was some rot at the split. The work seemed to go smoothly despite the wind. I moved a couple of shrubs this afternoon and planted a third. I think I've lost at least two shrubs this Winter.

Day 360 / Day 65 of Lockdown 3 / Day 4 of Step 1 of Roadmap out of Lockdown (for my record only)
UK deaths up 181 to 125,168 (revised basis), with 6,753 new cases (worryingly this is higher than a week ago - or is this just the result of the extra testing in schools), 8,977 patients in hospital, 1,237 on ventilation and 532 new admissions. Brazil recorded 2,349 Covid deaths yesterday, the first day it has been over 2k. Cases in Italy are rising again, with 25,673 new cases today, and in France with 30,303 new cases yesterday. SKY news are reporting cases rising in 75% of European countries, particularly in central and Eastern Europe. 23.1m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 1.4m have had their second dose. The EU has approved the Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine. 88.9% of over 60s have now had their first vaccine dose - amazing! Denmark, Norway, and Iceland have suspended their use of the AZ vaccine and Austria and Italy have stopped using a specific AZ vaccine batch after reports of blood clotting in some people that have been vaccinated - it's not known yet if it's linked or just a coincidence, the EMA are investigating. 4 new cases of the Brazil variant have been found in England. 4.66m people in England are waiting to begin hospital treatment at the end of Jan, with 304,044 waiting more than a year. It's exactly a year since the WHO declared Covid-19 a pandemic (they were a bit late).
