Refurbished

Today I decided to move the edging in front of the hedge forward by about 9 inches as the hedge is more mature now (the edging holds the gravel back). The board I'd used was starting to rot, so I decided I'd use 5m of log roll instead. Holt Garden Centre has been closed for refurbishment, but has recently re-opened. It's only partly complete as the outside area for plants and shrubs is still being created. The cafe is so much bigger than the old one and looks fab (I was put off taking a photo as two staff members were there) and it's perfectly situated for a beverage after a walk on Kelling Heath. I was very impressed - and I got the log roll I needed and it's now in place.

Day 361 / Day 66 of Lockdown 3 / Day 5 of Step 1 of Roadmap out of Lockdown (for my record only)
UK deaths up 175 to 125,343 (revised basis), with 6,609 new cases (higher than a week ago, is this just the result of the extra testing in schools), 8,404 patients in hospital, 1,194 on ventilation and 575 new admissions. The R no. has reduced to 0.6 to 0.8 with a daily infection growth rate of -7% to -4%. Infections in private households have fallen again in all 4 nations for w/e 6/3, with 1 in 270 having the virus in Eng, 1 in 320 in Scotland, 1 in 365 in Wales and 1 in 310 in NI. Wales is releasing some lockdown restrictions quicker than England, with the stay at home order ending at midnight tonight, but people having to stay local (5 miles), 2 households can meet in a private garden, outdoor sports facilities can re-open and hairdressers can open on Monday - very jealous! 23.3m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 1.4m have had their second dose, meaning 44.3% of UK adults have had a jab. There are expectations that the rate of vaccination will double next week after supply improves. The Novovax vaccine is 96% effective against the original Covid strain, and 100% effective at preventing serious illness (UK has 60m doses on order).
