Project 365 day 70: abstract details

Today has been a better day in every respect. The forecast rain did not materialise until late afternoon, a bit of watery sun brightened the garden, and gusty wind dried the laundry before it rained. I persuaded J out onto the deck for a while, which made it easier for me to sow two more trays of vegetable seeds: more broad beans, cauliflowers and romanesco (which is worth growing for its photogenic shapes as well as the flavour). I also wandered round some of the messier corners in search of abstract details with might qualify as mysterious. This one is less mysterious than the metal cylinder with the blood coloured stains, but definitely aesthetically superior, especially after I'd played with the colours a bit.

Last year's journal (the paper kind) tells me it was a year ago today that the WHO declared the corona virus epidemic to be a global pandemic. This week is also the anniversary of our decision to stay at home. It's now just over a year since J last attended her care and creative centre, and almost a year since we went anywhere. Watching the news from northern Italy, where hospitals were overwhelmed and doctors forced to choose which patients to treat, we knew we had to do whatever we could to ensure J did not need hospital treatment. Fortunately we had no idea we would still be shielding a year later - the prospect of three or four months at home without support felt daunting enough.
