Jarl Lena

There's been a lot of showers, mostly in the morning.  Plenty of good sunny spells, along with a cold wind.  Clearer skies this evening.

Another day working in the museum, and it's been a fairly quiet day.  Met mam for lunch.  Popped down to Jonny's after work, the twins and Michaela were away getting haircuts, but Lena was home.  Mam and Elise popped by for a walk this evening.  Now time to get my feet up, and the fire on.

Due to Covid-19, all Up Helly Aa fire festivals have been cancelled this year, understandably, but this means it's the second cancellation for the South Mainland and Delting, as they missed out last year too.  Tonight should have been the biggest night of the year in the South Mainland, with the procession and burning in Bigton. Vikings, a galley, torches and much silliness throughout the night.  Hopefully next year will see the return of them all, in the meantime, glad to be safe.  I suggested to Lena that she could declare Jarl this year, and she was happy to pose with her futuristic galley, the Humber.  Taken outside at Jonny's, Bigton.
