The Miller Regalite

It's windy and overcast so here is an indoor blip: a Miller Regalite self-generating acetylene cycle lamp. Now you won’t see many of these on Blipfoto! I guess it is about 120 years old. I rather like its utilitarian charm; a survivor from a very different technological age.

The Miller company was established in 1869 by Heinrich Möller who had emigrated to England. Based in Birmingham, its products were distributed and serviced worldwide. It remained in business until 1994 and came under Government control in both world wars. As the market leader, it made all kinds of safety lamps including high powered specialist equipment for lighthouses.
