Burning Season

Not the accidental one, but the one where it's allowed and done deliberately to get rid of all the olive tree prunings. Wish there was another way, but we're going to have to get permission to do ours because the Land is covered with them and there's only so much that can be chopped up and stored for firewood for next winter.

Mike went over to talk to Eduardo's Dad, doing the burning on the next hill, and he's keen to come help, so that's good.

And I am glad to report that I really am recovering. Worn out just by hanging out the washing, but no pain, and definitely better, and no antibiotics, yay! huge thanks, Leyna. And to all who wished me well yesterday, what a great community of friends you all are.

One year ago today we were on our mad dash through Spain to Julia's wedding, not knowing whether we'd make it, whether we'd all be dead soon, what the future held... As, of course, we still don't. Portugal has announced the beginning of lifting our fairly severe restrictions on Monday, and next Sunday, we should be able to go to church again. What I'm really missing is being able to eat out, even if only outdoors. And of course, family being able to come...

Gratefuls:
- feeling well again, not a fan of lying in bed all day, feeling too ill to even read; today I've spent time lying in the sun reading
- Mike for going to market on his own
- the memory of that amazing trip - and wedding - and lockdown with family for three and a half months
