Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Daffodil overload!

Yet another warm(ish) spring day! Edinburghers get very excited with two days in a row of good weather! They were out in their droves in The Meadows.

We put the old divan bed parts out at 7am for a council pick up. No we didn’t - we put them out last night, thank goodness. So that’s a good job done. Robert says he’s getting a van to go to the tip next week, did we have any rubbish to dispose of? Yes! Our old bench out the back is beginning to look in danger of collapsing under some poor unsuspecting person, so it can go.

I girded my loins (or something) and rang my TV folk again to do a bit more bargaining. Another hour or so on the phone, but I’m quite pleased with the result, I’m able to add on two SIM cards and it works out the same cost, as I took off a whole pile of channels we don’t watch (Sky Cinema).

We then walked across the Meadows to meet up with an ex-colleague whom we haven’t seen for many years, but she was suddenly on ‘Question Time’ on TV. It was so good to catch up. (Extra 1) We persuaded her, years ago, to try house swapping, and she’s been doing it ever since, and has been to some amazing places.

After getting coffees (every cafe was mobbed) we walked back over the Meadows, and she came home with us to see our fold up e-bike, which she was very interested in. Then JR and Archie accompanied her back into town (16, 450 steps). The Meadows was even more mobbed on the way back, with people enjoying the weather, and the prospect of lockdown easing.

Archie couldn’t resist posing in the wee daffodils again.

JR took this photo of the tree with messages about the terrible Sarah Everard murder. (Extra 2)

These daffs were the scene of my second ever blip! I think they are enhanced by the addition of Archie.
