Peek a Boo

I went for a circular walk this morning to the post box and spotted these lovely flowers peeking over a garden wall. Passers by no doubt get a better view than the owners. Today I got 2 coats of Hammerite on 2/3 of some garden 'crop protector' poles for holding netting over the raised bed - they'd gone rusty. I also got the Hammerite on a rusty garden ornament (bar spikes) - I know it's the fashion for rusty metal ornaments, but I'm not keen.

Day 371 / Day 76 of Lockdown 3 / Day 15 of Step 1 of Roadmap out of Lockdown (for my record only)
UK deaths up 17 to 126,172 (revised basis), with 5,342 new cases, 6,162 patients in hospital, 830 on ventilation and 440 new admissions. 28m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 2.3m have had their second dose. Referring to the third wave underway on the continent, Boris says that 'previous experience has taught us that when a wave hits our friends, I'm afraid it washes up on our shores as well.' He'd spoken to the French President and German Chancellor at the weekend and is reassured that EU leaders 'don't want to see blockades'. Unsurprisingly given recent suspensions of rollout across a number of European countries, confidence in the AZ vaccine has fallen according to a poll of 8,000 across 7 countries, with 55% of Germans and 61% of French thinking it's unsafe, and only 36% of Italians and 38% of Spanish thinking it's safe (77% of Brits think it's safe). The large US trial of the AZ vaccine confirms that it is safe and 79% effective at stopping symptomatic Covid and 100% effective at preventing people from falling seriously ill. Scientists have estimated that people with Covid also experience tinnitus (14.8%), hearing loss (7.6%) and vertigo (7.2%), with some people seeing symptoms improve and others not. TfL has agree an extension to Govt funding for another 7 weeks.
