Hidden Beauty

Walking in town amidst the forest of dull clone stores, it’s easy to overlook the beauty above (the same can be said of London’s Oxford Street). Apart from the Echo building (1932 Art Deco), the blip is a glimpse of the elegant towers of my favourite building here.

A reminder of the good old days when the rich and famous flocked to Bournemouth on vacation. Sadly the department stores have lost their way, HoF has been hanging on (bought out by Mike Ashley), but unless it has a radical refurb, it will be the next to go.

Thankfully, there are signs of new blood here. Empty shops are re-emerging.  Many focusing on the new generation of customer (which includes me).

Such a beautiful spring-like day. I suggested an earlier start. So we went out at 11. 11,000 steps and 8km later we’d walked the Overcliff to Boscombe Pier, then back via the water’s edge (admiring our newly replenished wide sandy beach), via the Lower Gardens, through town, and back up via Lansdowne. By then my energy had completely waned.

Evening still feel cool, need to make a good curry to warm up.

Thanks to the Blackheath Blippers, in this case ‘PelorusJack’, for this month’s Mono Monday challenges.  Today’s is ‘Architectural Glimpses’.  (NB Hope Blackheath hasn’t endured all the torrential rain - must check out your journals)
