Getting the sparkle back

The Book Thief

I finished this book yesterday, but hadn't blipped it and wanted to, as I don't want to forget it. I had vaguely heard of it and bought it when it came up as a Kindle daily deal for 99p. (I have a very large collection of 99p Kindles, I doubt whether I'll live to read them all, particularly as I keep adding more.)

It's a lovely, very original book set in war-time Germany with a lot of sadness, but also humour and huge tenderness. It is narrated by Death and tells the story of a girl (the book thief) who is given to foster parents in a town just outside Munich as she comes of age during the 2nd World War. I won't say any more as I wouldn't want to spoil anyone's enjoyment.
