Swing time

In recent weeks when I have looked after Miss Emily in the afternoon she has been tired because of the hot weather but today it was cooler and she seemed to have plenty of energy and so I suggested that we go to Kings Park for an ice cream and she thought that was a good idea.

'Where's the King' she asked....'we should look for him'.... but first we sat on the lush green grass in the shade and enjoyed our treats. After that we went exploring and while we didn't find a King or Prince we did manage to find the playground where some children were enjoying playing in the water mist which floats down on the breeze from some metallic prehistoric tree-like sculptures. Emily was quick to suggest that her clothes and shoes come off so she could join in the fun (seems she has done this before) and with them quickly removed she headed off but as it was a little cool she decided to climb the nearby stairs to the platform area and take the long winding tube-slide down .... over and over again. She certainly had plenty of energy today. Then it was off to the swings and that is where this photo was taken. 'Swing me higher Nana' was closely followed by squeals of delight as she headed for the clouds (in her mind).

We spent over an hour there before heading to my place where she had me making up stories about Princess Emily, her big sister Lulu (her cousin) and her baby Lucy (her little sister) for the remaining couple of hours before I took her home. She was enraptured and I was having a great time amusing her and playing with her emotions...laughing one minute, looking wide-eyed the next, then concerned as the Princesses story unfolded. What a beautiful way to spend the afternoon.
