Two boys

This is our son and his friend, acting in a play commemorating the battle of Adwa. Approximately 120 years ago, the Ethiopians soundly defeated the Italians. It was the first time in "modern warfare" that Africans had defeated a colonial European army. It was noticed around the world, and may have been the beginning of the end of colonization. (However, it was a very long "end") The Italians returned in the late 30's to cause more misery, but were again evicted, this time with the help of the English.
Our son and his classmates reenacted small battles modern day families might have around the house.
