Hawfinch

What a lovely surprise visitor to our feeders this morning!  This beautiful male Hawfinch came and took some fat from our feeder and then sat in this ash tree for a few moments.  These birds are not common countrywide but can be found in our area usually in the uppermost branches of tall trees.  I have not heard of one visiting a garden feeder before.  They have gigantic beaks and are very striking birds to watch; I do hope he returns!
