Banff from Mount Norquay

Today was toonie Thursday at Mount Norquay. That's right. A whole day of skiing for $2. We grabbed our gear and headed up to the hill. We soon realized it would be an extremely busy day as the main parking lot was already packed and it was only 9:30. Combining toonie Thursday with reading week probably wasn't their best decision, soon they were sold out of all rental gear and every line was 100 people long. Tamara came with us and showed us around to parts of the hill we didn't get to last time we were at Norquay. The ski lifts were long but the actual hill wasn't that crowded so it turned out to be a good day. The big dump of snow a few days earlier helped the conditions and made for a great day of skiing. We went up the North American chair to check out the view. This photo shows Mount Rundle, the town of Banff below it, the bow river to the right winding in between the mountains and of course a skiier making his way down the hill. All the runs from this particular chair are black diamonds so we downloaded instead of taking the viciously steep moguls down.
