Branching out

Quite excited to see what appear to be the beginnings of branches on our little Japanese maple sapling!

Lovely to wake up naturally this morning.  We sprang into action reasonably quickly though, and got to work on the electrics for our dishwasher.  The socket it was plugged into stopped working last year, so we've been running it off an extension cable ever since.  There were two possible culprits - the switch on the wall, or the plug socket itself.  Typically we started with the one that it wasn't.  Ah well, after some faffing, we eventually replaced the plug socket and hey presto, the dishwasher worked again!  Very satisfying.

After some lunch we got to work on the shower.  the on/off knob seized up completely a couple of days ago - most likely due to the very hard water here.  Tim had been and bought a new shower unti the other evening, so we fitted that this afternoon.  (Like for like, so very straightforward.)

I descaled the old shower unit, and the head and hose, so that we could save them as spares.  All came up nicely, but the on/off valve still totally locked.  (The thermostat may still come in handy though.)

I also did the old bicarbonate of soda and boiling water trick on our semi-blocked bathroom sink.  Took three goes, but eventually cleared with a satisfying gurgle :)

Pretty tired after all of that (and the crazy work week just gone), so didn't do too much more - other than cooking a couple of (if I may say so) very tasty curries for our dinner (a saag aloo and a rogan josh, again).  Watched The News of The World with Tom Hanks on Netflix this evening - very good film.

Nearly forgot, we had a lovely surprise of some flowers from Tim's Mum today - to wish us a happy Easter :)
