Butterbur ( Petasites hybridus )

Yet another sunny spring day, the snow forecast for tomorrow night will be a shock if it arrives.  Now we are allowed to meet in gardens Kanyl popped out and we had an extremely pleasant afternoon.  Mainly just sitting and nattering on the patio.   At one point we had a wander round the estate.  As we went along the side of the beck the Butterbur was coming into flower nicely.  Later the bank will just be a mass of the large leaves which are only just showing.

Legend has it that the common name Butterbur is because in the past the large leaves were used to wrap butter in summer.
