Last Light of the Afternoon

Len went to play tennis. I made a simnel cake. We thought we'd go for a gentle stroll round Nanpantan Reservoir around 6 pm. Other Shepshed folks have been posting photos from there this week.

The bailiff was locking the gate just as we arrived. We drove on to the junction of Jubilee Wood and the Outwoods.  Late light picked out a silver birch alongside the footpath.

Young Montalbano has returned to BBC 4 late on Saturday evening. I watched last night's episode with new eyes. I won't say misogyny but patriarchy comes to mind, and the fact that each couple takes lovers. It's quite accepted.

Sad to watch Montalbano and Livia in the early days when you know that he abandons her in the last book in the throes of a mid life crisis and a new love affair.
