Refuge From the Wind

Another day of rugged nor’west wind, gusts of which almost knocked me over. It was warm too, up to 27ºC this afternoon. Then a sudden sou’west change that caused such a rapid drop in the temperature that it triggered an alarm on my electronic weather station. That hasn’t happened before.

This butterfly was sheltering in a sunny spot. Several times, when the wind eased, it flew out to the waxeye’s sugar water for a quick sip. Smart butterfly.
