Besides acres and acres of apple orchards and some lovely woodlands and fields, plus a few highland cattle in the grounds of a large house with a folly (unused mausoleum), Cobham turned out to be a very pretty little village indeed. It has three pubs, this one was Dickens' favourite, the Leather Bottle.
More recently The Leather Bottle has become known for hosting MollyFest in memory of a young woman from the village who worked at the pub and who was murdered at Chatham Dockside.
