Sighting

Spotted this handsome boy enjoying a bath in our bog. In the fifteen years that we have lived in Gainesville this is the first Summer Tanager that I've seen, although my field guide lists them as 'Breeding-Common' in our area. They winter in the tropics. I love that the same field guide describes their voice as sounding like a 'lazy robin'! This one appears to be an immature male. Mature males are a 'bright rosy red' color and females are a 'rich yellow'.
Stay Well! :)
