Willy Mason

Tonight Wife and I went to a gig together for the first time since Girl was born. Thats almost five years. In our non-parental lives we went to lots of gigs, pretty much every other week there would be one.

A number of years ago pre-marriage and pre-children we saw Willy Mason play the Wedge. It was just him with his little brother on the drums then. Tonight he had a full band with him and it was brilliant. As we still had some time on the baby sitter clock when the gig finished we hung about the venue to wait for the crowds to clear.

As we waited we saw Mr Mason side stage signing some posters. When he finished he looked over. I gestured to him and he waved and then came out of back stage to see us. We had a quick chat where we told him about the last time we saw him and he said "I thought I had been here before" and "I thought I recognised you guys" (I don't think he could have really). Just as he was telling us how his brother was getting on he was recognised by some crazed girls who came bounding over in a bit of a frenzy, ending up getting the envelope of their housing benefit forms signed.

We had a brief chat more and Mr Mason sign a set list for us. We wished him well and told him that the last venue on his tour was a goodie and off we went in time to not hit another hour of baby sitting costs.

A good night indeed
