"The World On Time"

In the mid 1960s Fred Smith, an undergraduate student at Yale, came up with a concept that became Federal Express. It was to have one carrier be responsible for a piece of cargo from local pick-up right through to ultimate delivery, operating its own aircraft, depots, posting stations, and delivery vans. 


This McDonnel Douglas MD11 (FedEx has 53) is heading for Stansted behind our northerly boiler-house chimney.
