Busy Bee

'The busy bee has no time for sorrow'
     William Blake

Busy with housework and a psychology U3A meeting today.

Day 388 / Day 93 of Lockdown 3 / Day 32 of Step 1 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
UK deaths up 53 to 126,980 (revised basis), with 3,030 new cases, 3,124 patients in hospital, 440 on ventilation and 220 new admissions. 31.8m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 6.1m have had their second dose. Yorkshire and Humber has the highest lab confirmed case rate at 66.9 per 100k, but that's down from 111.1 the previous week. The sister of a 59 year old man who died from a blood clot on Sunday after getting the AZ vaccine says she's 'very angry' but still believes people should have the vaccine  'for the greater good of the population'. The Health Secretary confirms we have 'more than enough' doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine for under 30s. The Sydney Morning Herald are reporting that 717k doses of the AZ vaccine have been flown from the UK to Australia in the last 2 months. Australia has now restricted the AZ vaccine to over 50s and the Philippines to over 60s. Tokyo wants to use emergency measures due to a surge in cases three months before the start of the Olympics. The French Open Tennis has been put back a week to hopefully allow more to attend, and will now be 30 May to 13 June.
