The fading daffodils

I bought some daffodils at Waitrose recently but they never opened. I took them back and they were replaced with this completely different type with these much more dominant orange flowers.

Today I saw several had withered and they were past their peak, I tried to grab an indoor picture towards the end of the day. I definitely prefer to leave the flowers on a plant in the garden, but cut flowers do add some colour and brightness to the house.
