Evil eye Reg!

A beautiful bright start to the day which later turned to snow. I spent the morning re-fencing around the bird feeders, beautiful sunny morning and the sheep just over the wall bleating! -extra photo.
If we don't fence this area off Reg is under the feeders the whole time hoovering up all the spilt grain and then he's forever itching and scratching! When we returned from our short afternoon walk, snow blizzard en route, Reg was straight over there to investigate, looking for any gaps I may have left. Sorry Reg, no chance! His look says it all.
Everything in the growing room and the poly tunnel seem to be surviving the recent below zero night temperatures, so I still live in hope that I will see some actual produce later in the summer.
I'm still keen to set up a flowering meadow/wildlife garden along one side of our plot. There are still a lot of nettles down that side but I have been reading up about them. It seems they have many beneficial health properties as well as being excellent for insects, so maybe this year I will embrace them and not continue to rip them out! We're introducing yellow rattle, waiting for the plants and seeds to arrive,  which is apparently great to get a meadow started as it suppresses the grass growth and looks pretty into the bargain!
Charlotte went to visit mum today and went for a walk with her, more of a trot for Charlotte once mum gets going on that electric scooter! They went to buy cakes at the local bakers and then enjoyed them with a cuppa when they got home. It was such a boost for mum to get out and so good that she had enough energy to be able to do it. Just need to get this move complete and her recovery will be much more tangible. The promise of a date by the end of last week didn't materialise so let's hope next week brings news. It will be such another great boost for her.
Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely weekend.
