Life through the lens...

Ups and downs.

After a frustrating morning, we decided a walk through Judy Woods would brighten us up, and calm us down.

After holding on for 15 mins. I finally got through to our doctor’s surgery.
Seems we aren’t the only ones who expected to have our second Covid jab yesterday.
Apparently a few weeks after our last jab they changed the booking system, and our names, along with probably a few hundred others weren’t transferred to the new system.
I was told we would be be sent a text, and then to follow the instructions to book a new appointment. Goodness knows when. Needless to say I wasn’t very happy!
4.30pm and still no text. Then a phone call from a lovely young lady who was very apologetic, and booked us both in for Friday.
Poor girl. She had been rebooking appointments all day.
So fingers crossed now sorted.

We really enjoyed our walk through the woods.
A lot had changed since our last visit in October.
Many of the large mature beech trees along the main path have been felled ( see collage)
because they had phytophthora cambivora ( ink disease)
The logs and branches will be kept on site, with some used for dead hedging, habitat piles, and leaky dams.
Other trees set back from the paths will be retained and monitored as standing deadwood - important habitat for invertebrates, bats, and woodpeckers.

The bluebells are just beginning to appear, also the wild garlic.
It was very quiet today. Only met a handful of people, which was surprising as the weather, although still cold, was beautiful and sunny.

Nice to see the Pear Tree Pub getting ready to open fir their first customers. They certainly look well prepared with a new open sided marquee.
Hope they get plenty of customers.
There are quite a few local pubs which have been refurbished during lockdown.
Must think it worth it.

Now opened a bottle of wine to celebrate!
