Eyes too bigger.......

We couldn't get any closer to the drama which was unfolding here. And I even had my 70-300mm lens on the camera. We saw the grebe catch the fish and for the next 10-15 minutes attempt to swallow it. But it was just far too big.

Disappointed, it had to admit defeat and skulled off into the reeds. The fish was dead. No doubt something else would benefit from the excellent fishing skills of this amazing water bird.
