Our plans for a walk along a Public Path signposted by the “Scottish Rights of Way and Access Society” were thwarted.  After walking for about fifteen minutes a new locked gate prevented us from entering a large field and even if we had climbed the gate it would have been foolish to enter the huge field with a large herd of cows and the adjacent field was ploughed right up to the edge.   Apparently it is illegal to block an ancient right of way and perhaps a fence should have been erected to maintain the path even if few people now use it. The nearby field was being prepared for planting and I thought the light and shade of the curved furrows made a good pattern
