After the rain

Oh dear. I've really lost my blip mojo. This EWFB* serves the purpose of reminding me when the pretty ornamental tree outside our office window started flowering this year; the rain must have woken it up.

The rain finally stopped late yesterday evening; the sun even briefly struggled through this morning, but soon crept behind the clouds again. We went out yesterday evening to help our mayor celebrate 30 years in office -- he was the youngest mayor in France when he was first elected aged 23. He's a popular guy, and will be standing again next year. His friend André Chassaigne, the député for Puy de Dôme, gave a gushing speech of praise in which he said that when Serge speaks it is as if the sap of his terroir is surging through him. I had a hard-to-eradicate mental image of Serge's feet planted in the soil, with sap oozing up through his legs.

PS if you want to see a more famous mayor, and indeed a more interesting blip, have a look at Bob20's blip for today.
