Bee Fly

This little bee fly was feeding on our vinca blooms this morning.  It is odd that these insects stay in hover even when in contact with plants.  They have a very clearly different and higher tone to their buzz which helps you locate them once you recognise the different sound.

I also saw my first holly blue butterfly of the year this morning.
