Asparagus

Been another tough start for German farmers with their white asparagus. A month or so ago it was so warm that the stuff was appearing to early, then all the difficulties of getting sufficient harvest workers from the eastern EU countries with all the Corona restrictions and then the return of winter .

Officially the Bavarian Asparagus Season kicked off this week with our Agriculture Minister digging up a few on the farm of this year's Asparagus Queen. Bavaria is very proud of its Asparagus based around the town of Schrobenhausen, not far from Ingolstadt where there is an Asparagus Museum. But I think e very area of Germany claims to have the best.

As the weather is so cold, I suspect the current price of €.13.90 kg reflects that. I'm no great asparagus fan so have no idea of the prices.
