Steve Jobs in the Garden

We had a staycation day and drove down to the next town for sushi at our favorite place. It's a small family-run business that's been there forever, they make all their sauces from scratch, and everything is always fresh and delicious. It's been well over a year since we were there, since the beginning of You Know What, and boy was it a treat to sit out on their little patio. After lunch we continued down the road to a plant nursery that features a sculpture garden with works by local artists. Steve Jobs, by Geoffrey Nicastro, is a life-sized sculpture from his Peace Heard project, which celebrates individuals who have made a positive contribution to the world through non-violent means. The artist was inspired by the Terra Cotta Warriors, an installation of 8,000 militant figures. What if, he thought, there were such an assembly of representations of people who have waged peace instead of war? Nicastro is working on it, recruiting artists, one figure at a time.
