Old Inverness

These buildings have suddenly become visible due to the demolition of another building in Castle Street. And all of a sudden, we are looking at old Inverness, a town of tight packed houses, many of whom would have seen little daylight. I'd noticed these builings a short while back and I half expected these them to have been demolished. But there they were, with protective covers over the roof. I think it is the 'Old Gateway, ' as featured in the cover of Norman Newton's Lost Inverness. (See extra photo) The facing building has gone, but the stairs are the main clue.
