Weka - the Mischief Maker!

The Weka or woodhen is a flightless bird species of the rail family. It is endearing, famously feisty, cheeky and enterprising, with very taking ways. It'll taking anything away you leave lying around! Unlike the kiwi, wekas are daytime birds. This particular bird was determined to make friends with us, and also make off with any food he/she could. There were grapes growing wild (a garden break-out for sure) near our campsite, so we thought it wouldn't do any harm to let him have some. A good idea?
