Coryton Cove

We were up early and walking along the beach at Dawlish Warren by 8o'clock this morning; we were just about the only people without dogs! As you can see from the extra, which was taken looking directly towards where yesterday's blip was taken from, it was a glorious morning.

By the time we got back to the lodge we'd done 10000 steps and were ready for a pre-breakfast soak in the hot tub.

After breakfast we walked along the coast path to Dawlish. Famously the main London to Plymouth railway line runs right next to the beach at this point (see other extra): in 2014 the area was hit by a storm which destroyed the coastal defences here and left the railway track dangling in thin air. It took several weeks to repair everything and get the line to Cornwall operating again.

We stopped in Dawlish for coffee and cake then walked further along to Coryton Cove here inthe main blip where we spent some time reading and sunbathing before taking the return walk to Dawlish Warren. We were ready for a meal in the pub on the front there and the first pint I've had in a pub, or outside to be precise, since well before Christmas.

We've walked about 13 miles and 30000 steps in all today, so another visit to the hot tub was called for to ease the aching feet and joints.
